Welcome to New York Carmelo!

Carmelo has finally gotten his wish granted. He is the newest member of the new New York Knicks. The drama begin in early september when he declined to sign an extension with the Nuggets...since then his only wanted destination were the Knicks. Now he is teaming up with Stoudemire to make Big Apple a championship caliber team! The Knicks had to let important keys go, like Gallinari or Felton, but were able to hold on to Fields, who has often been referred as a glue player to keep championship teams together.
Along with Melo came Chauncey Billups, a former champion, AllStar and Olympian.
The question which Number he will wear, was also revealed today. It will be the number 7. Tonight will be there first matchup in the new line up against Memphis.
But dont expect them to be just done yet, Donnie Walsh expressed today, that they still need some more depth at Center. But you shouldnt expect any major moves.
Their new line up should feature : Billups,Fields,Anthony,Stoudemire and Turiaf.

The Melo Frenzy

It has been 5 months now and Carmelo Anthony is still playing for George Karl and the Denver Nuggets.
His suitors have also been the same since late August but Denvers demands remain steadily pretty high. They want assets, worthy to keep them in the top 8 and they want expiring contracts if possible.
The Nets seemed to be the frontrunners for a deal landing Carmelo, talks even went that far, that the Nets got the Pistons involved, to provide a fair deal. The only problem was Anthony, who probably wont a agree to sign an extension with New Jersey. His prefered destination is still New York and the Knicks. He was also quoted by saying that money doesnt play a major role, but championships do.
So now Nets owner Prokhorov announced that they will back out of the trade, looking for other options.
The fruntrunners now are the Knicks, even if the Nuggets reluctantly dont want to go in to negotiations with them, because they dont have the necessary package built to trade for Anthony. Donnie Walsh announced last week that Anthony Randolph, who has been disappointing this season for the Knicks, will be traded soon for a future first round pick. The most logical destination for him would be Portland now, with Camby undergoing knee surgery.
With him leaving the Knicks would use the first round pick trying to get Anthony willing to let Gallinari,Fields,Curry and Azubuike go. Azubuike´s and Curry´s expiring contracts would be a nice salary reduction for the Nuggets and with Azubuike still inactive, his salaray would be covered by the injury insurance.
Everything so far points towards Anthony heading to New York, even though the Bulls and Rockets made aspirations to try getting Carmelo, but those are short lived.
Dont expect Anthony to be in Denver until the end of this season, but also dont expect this trade to happen until close to the deadline.

Lakers trade Vujacic

The Lakers now have officially traded long time shooting guard Sasha "The Machine" Vujacic, to save money and keep their exception.
Vujacic was part of a three team deal, that sent him to New Jersey along with a first round pick for Terrence Williams who goes to Houston. Joe Smith will be headed to LA.
Los Angeles has been eager to trade Vujacic for a while now, since he is getting 5.5 million Dollars this season. The trade will give him a lot of minutes in the Nets rotation, since Anthony Morrow just got injured and will be out for 2-4 weeks. And with Williams now in Houston, Vujacic is one of the premier options at the shooting guard position for the Nets.

Injury Report Update 12/03/2010

Martell Webster - Minnesota Timberwolves

After numerous different injuries Martell Webster is finally able to go to full scrimmage again. Last year he had a decent season in Portland and the T´wolves expected him to hurt opponents with his versatile game and three point shooting. Expect him to slowly start of the bench for now.

Joe Johnson - Atlanta Hawks

The Hawks star shooting guard will have to undergo elbow surgery and will miss about 4-6 weeks. A big setback for the Hawks. Look for Crawfor to gain a lot more minutes.

Johnny Flynn - Minnesota Timberwolves

Just like Webster, he finally returned to full contact practice and will make his debut on friday in the D-League. If he passes this test, expect him to return next week to the NBA.

Carlos Boozer - Chicago Bulls

The long expected return of Carlos Boozer might happen this wednesday against the Orlando Magic. He broke his arm during the preseason. He will probably return pretty quick to starting line up minutes.

Kendrick Perkins - Boston Celtics

The Celtics big man still has a lot of work to do but they eye a return in february. He is dealing with recovery from a knee injury he received in the last finals, resulting in major knee surgery.

Reggie Evans out 8 weeks

A huge blow to the Raptors´ rebounding. They lose their best Rebounder and probably one of the top 10 rebounders in the league due to a broken foot.
He started 15 games so far and collected 12.1 rebounds in just 27.3 minutes per game.
Joey Dorsey and Amir Johnson will probably now get more minutes and share those at the Center position.
