The Melo Frenzy

It has been 5 months now and Carmelo Anthony is still playing for George Karl and the Denver Nuggets.
His suitors have also been the same since late August but Denvers demands remain steadily pretty high. They want assets, worthy to keep them in the top 8 and they want expiring contracts if possible.
The Nets seemed to be the frontrunners for a deal landing Carmelo, talks even went that far, that the Nets got the Pistons involved, to provide a fair deal. The only problem was Anthony, who probably wont a agree to sign an extension with New Jersey. His prefered destination is still New York and the Knicks. He was also quoted by saying that money doesnt play a major role, but championships do.
So now Nets owner Prokhorov announced that they will back out of the trade, looking for other options.
The fruntrunners now are the Knicks, even if the Nuggets reluctantly dont want to go in to negotiations with them, because they dont have the necessary package built to trade for Anthony. Donnie Walsh announced last week that Anthony Randolph, who has been disappointing this season for the Knicks, will be traded soon for a future first round pick. The most logical destination for him would be Portland now, with Camby undergoing knee surgery.
With him leaving the Knicks would use the first round pick trying to get Anthony willing to let Gallinari,Fields,Curry and Azubuike go. Azubuike´s and Curry´s expiring contracts would be a nice salary reduction for the Nuggets and with Azubuike still inactive, his salaray would be covered by the injury insurance.
Everything so far points towards Anthony heading to New York, even though the Bulls and Rockets made aspirations to try getting Carmelo, but those are short lived.
Dont expect Anthony to be in Denver until the end of this season, but also dont expect this trade to happen until close to the deadline.
